Weekend Ready & Podcast Contest Update!

by on May 13, 2011

It’s been a busy week so far but there have been a few nice sporting surprises. The White Sox have won consecutive series for the first time all season and the Bulls advance into the Eastern Conference Finals.

The White Sox battled back after being down most of the game and tied the finale of the three game set with the Angels to send the game into extra innings. Quickly the Sox scored two more which was enough to ear a win. I’m glad they showed some mental fortitude and executed with fundamental hitting. I hope this trend continues intoOaklandfor the weekend before coming home to face the Rangers.

The Sox are just looking to get back to .500 and have a long stretch of games without a day off. Normally I don’t complain about teams having a day off, especially since they get to play a game for a living, but the stretch they’re on has lead the team to go with a six pitcher rotation. Phil Humber, the talent that was called up with Peavy on the DL, has pitched remarkably well, enough to earn a rotation spot and with Buehrle likely to benefit from the extra time off, I don’t see that much of a problem with the move.

The Bulls took care of business this passed week and were able to down the Hawks without having to go to a seventh game. The Bulls return to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time withoutJordanon the team. They take on the heavily favored circus of the Heat. I don’t know what to expect going into the series, though I do expect the series to be more exciting than the Finals. I think the ECF will either go six or the full seven games with the winner going on to win against the Western Conference Champion.

The Mother’s Day Episode of “Chicago Sports Weekend Update” is up now on the 40cast feed and Episode 5 of “Beyond the Headset Supplemental” is now available as well. There has been a change to the BTHS contest, there will be 3 winners now, each with their choice of a copy of “Quantum of Solace” for the Xbox 360, a $20.00 game card for a system of your choosing, and a copy of the first part of the prequel series to “Batman: Arkham City.” Again all you have to do is listen to episodes 3 through 7 and email the names of the games of the music used in the intros and the formalities.
